API… What is this three-letter buzzword that cause such pride in entrepreneurs?...
For the technical ''an API is an Application Programing Interface is a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications. The API specifies how software components should interact and APIs are used when programming graphical user interface (GUI) components''- wikipedia. For non-computer scientists provides a link for smartphone and tablet devices to get data from the cloud, social networks to accept shares, and data to easily be exposed between companies. Today there are literally thousands of APIs providing services. Some are free, many are paid for.

The focus of the article is to explain about a “Silver Bullet” in future of API era. “ Telco Application Platform and its APIs ”. An open API platform covers majority of Development, Business, Telecommunication areas in all aspects. Lets dig into deep…

WHY TELCO APIs…
A report last year from World Mobile Applications Market, a U.S.-based market research company, estimated the mobile application marketplace will be worth some $25 billion by 2015. APIs and mobile go so hand-in-hand that it’s almost foolish to have a ‘mobile strategy’ and not have an ‘API strategy’, “APIs enable companies to take their online presence beyond their web site and become integrated into customer experiences wherever they are—on their own web site, their own mobile Apps, or any third party or partner app regardless of what platform. As everything goes mobile, users are going to spend less time coming to you and so you to go to them.

The Telcos across the globe are focusing on creating new services and business models that support customers' digital transformation. Telco Application Platform (TAP) enables a new wave of developer communities by offering an end-to-end solution that empowers developers and non-developers to create Telco applications effortlessly through a self-care portal, thus eliminating the need for Telcos to involve in app development life cycle and release. This results in a tremendous app and revenue growth for Telcos.

WHY TAP APIs ARE GRATE TO WORK WITH…
1.For a Developer...
According to ProgrammableWeb.com a dedicated API review site, A grate API must have 5 key features.
  •  A valuable service.
  •  A plan and a business model.
  • Simple, flexible, easily adopted.
  • Managed and measured.
  • Great developer support

“What is the goal of this API?(purpose),Who will be using this API?(audience),What protocol(s) will I support?,What data format(s) to provide?,How will I manage security?,Should I use an open source framework?,Which design patterns to use?, Hmm, are there any?Oh, right, I need to do versioning too...”, These are some questions creeps you when starting a project/App. Thats where TAP APIs comes In handy. Because, A great API understands its audience and developer. Most of the Telco APIs inbuilt(ya… that's the right word,) with 8 Million audience around the country. Above all TAP has a Great developer support

 2. For Non Developers…

TAP is a full flashed System, mChoice™ Soltura: -Freedom for anyone to build apps. Innovative ideas come from great minds, but every great mind is not necessarily a developer's. Innovation happens in different forms, in different domains; the options are wide and unthinkable. Prerequisites to using mChoice™ Soltura: Ideas, ideas and ideas!  For non Developers TAP APIs give many supports. Not only Soltura platform, But also Self-Service End-to-End, inbuilt Anti-Spamming, manage Subscription and much more. TAP APIs gives a whole variety of possible applications. For  some examples, Supply Chain Management, Digital Irrigation Automation, Online Trading, HRM Attendance System, Shuttle Management, Sales-force Tracking,Online Counseling,Reserve and Purchase Tickets,Donations to Charity… you name it they have it.

Future Trends for Telcos in Digital Space…

As I mention in the beginning, TAP APIs covers all the buzzwords in the prediction hype cycle 2020. Internet of Things, Big Data ,NFC ,Neurobusiness, Data Science, cloud based technologies, M2M technologies and more. Hsenid mobiles and Telco Application Platform start the services with beginning of GSM era. Now, TAP APIs are supporting even before the next generation of technologies emerging.

Building Developer Communities.
The most interesting and Unbelievable fact is “An API give support even after your development period. It will joint your hand until you launch you app globally”. hSenid Mobile has pioneered the building of Telco Developer Communities around our TAP in deployments worldwide. Fostering a powerful developer community that muscles Telco innovation requires high-tech support from Telco's end. After having established multiple international deployments in diverse markets, we have a better understanding of the requirements of each constituent of the mobile-app channel, be it Telcos, developers or the end users. Together with technical know-how and our expertise in connecting with developers, we have derived the following best practices which we strongly believe enable Telcos to craft and nurture their own Developer Community.

Conclusion
“The absence of limitations is the enemy of art” - Orson Welles. Unfortunately, Hsenid mobiles APIs are limitless when considering the number of application can be produce. If your a Developer or a entrepreneur hsenid mobile APIs and Telco Application platforms are the things you need to watch for your way to success.

The competition, being held for the fourth time, is aimed at developing innovative, creative and entrepreneurship skills among ICT undergraduates. A total of 18 undergraduate teams from 12 State and private sector universities and higher educational institutes of Sri Lanka including Universities of Colombo, Moratuwa, Peradeniya, Jaffna, Sri Jayawardenapura, Uva Wellassa, Rajarata, KDU, OUSL, APIIT, SLIIT and IIT will demonstrate IT solutions they developed during past six to seven months at the competition.

The shortlisted 18 solutions were selected out of the 149 initial entries by a panel of experts. All solutions address a current burning issue of an organisation or it will help to improve the organisational efficiency across many organisations. The solutions are meant for different industry verticals such as education, health, tourism, retail, automation, transportation, environment and public safety.

Motorola Solutions Director and Country Manager for Sri Lanka Anuradha Tennakoon said: “In the past this competition was limited only to software development whereas this time students could propose any IT solution of their wish. We did not want to limit or control their thinking power and interests. The results are as we expected. Some very innovative and creative products have been created. It is very evident from these solutions that our undergraduates are capable of developing world class solutions with proper guidance and coaching. These young people are the future of our IT industry and they will drive Sri Lanka to a leader edge of world’s solutions landscape.”
The day’s event comprising student stalls and live demos will lead up to the award ceremony in the evening with the participation of Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy Susil Premajayanth as the Chief Guest. Winning teams will walk away with Cash prizes, trophies and certificates.

SLASSCOM Chairman Madu Ratnayake stated: “SLASSCOM is delighted to once again co organise this competition. If Sri Lanka is to become a knowledge hub then innovative IT based solutions needs to be developed that present solutions to burning problems in our country. The previous editions of this competition have seen many innovative solutions being presented and we are confident that this year’s finalists will represent the brightest undergraduate talent in our university system. SLASSCOM has articulated an ambitious goal of a 1,000 new tech start ups by 2022 and we are confident that competitions of this nature will go a long way to help create an eco system that will make this vision a reality.”
